Halloween Plot
Monthly plot: Ghosts of the Sphere
Halloween/November plot: Ghosts of the Sphere
What's going on?!
So, you guys asked for it and here is the Halloween plot: Ghosts of the Sphere. It's clear that the Sphere has a legacy of death in it, from the Skeletons in the catacombs, to the sirens, to the times that people have died during the Sphere's active game. In the Sphere, all of these deaths leave energy sequences: they are echoes of the past, the present and the future. Beginning two weeks ago, the four characters who are most aligned with death/death magic received messages on their communications devices. The messages happened in short bursts at 3:33 in the morning, and were garbled static and texts. These messages then disintegrate the more people who attempt to listen to them, or when people try to relisten to them until they fade away to nothing.
Then a much larger round of messages rang around the Sphere, and John, (your resident ghost) told people to not pay attention to them, to ignore them and to not "feed them." Of course given the inquisitive nature of the characters in the Sphere that's not at all likely.
On Monday morning, the message appeared on the network proper. But the more people who listened to it, the fainter and fainter it got until it was removed from the network entirely (something that isn't supposed to be able to happen!) Starting after that, people will start to see things that aren't there. This isn't a nightmare, though where they are can vary and there only is particular spots that they should always be active: the infirmary, the catacombs, the haunted house and the black market. From Tuesday through the second, for the most part, these specters will have set tracks. They move along, they interact with no one, and then they are basically nothing more than energy stuck in a tract.
However, as it strikes midnight on the second, those tracks almost seem to shatter. There are suddenly more ghosts in the sphere than ever before. Some are even familiar. If your character has died in game (and you would like them to be but this is completely not mandatory) or if you chose in canon is a possibility also, then those ghosts can appear as well. They’ll act just like the character and be around asking questions and just trying to understand what is happening. If you would like it to have happened from a future unspecified death that works too. Wibbly wobbly Timey wimey.
As Halloween starts to wane however, whatever is keeping the ghosts tethered to the world starts to fade and they become less like the characters. The way that they died either in the Sphere or back home because written on their bodies. Wounds bleed, eyes appear dead, and eventually they become more and more translucent. This period starts on November 5th through November 8th.
On November 9th through the 13th , they will instead be nothing more than shades who speak in riddles. And who may have knowledge that allows player characters to go deeper into the Sphere’s secrets themselves. This will happen in a log that will be put up on the 9th. Additionally, it will be the place to run into other NPCs as well as if you want more than hand waved interactions with sirens, skeletons and what not.
If your character has died in the Sphere and you wish to fill people to have hand waved interactions with them, please fill out the text box below. Only players who have characters currently in the game may grant permission for their ghosts to show up.
